Proposal for Gutter Fest # 6
'Rush Hour'
riso printed zine exploring the theme of being in a hurry
'Rush Hour' is a small accordion folding zine. It explores the topic of being in a hurry, being rushed and trying to get somewhere.
I used to live in Moscow, like any capital city, it is full of cars and busy people. Everyone is trying to get from one place to another, to hop on a bus, to dive into a metro station, to run up the escalator, to pass others by. Long commutes with multiple changes in public transport make people move faster than they would do naturally. It feels like this energy of a busy city makes ancient instincts wake up. And it doesn't take long for the passengers who were simply trying to get to their jobs to start competing for being the first in time and space. How does it feel to be in a hurry? Why are we trying to be so fast? How does this rush energy spread? I started sketching to understand it better.

After a while I had a selection of characters. Each of them has their own way of being in a hurry. One is driven by a fear of being late, another is enjoying his speed, when some other creature just keeps going at the top of his speed almost automatically.

'Rush Hour' was developed with advice and recommendations at the risograph workshop organized by Ulises Mendicutty in Miscelanea last summer.
And I would also like to present a selection of my personal projects.

Librino Monografías
I made a series of monoprints using the trace monotype technique. Each print is a personal visual study of a life event or strong emotional experience observed and documented during last year. This project is a collection of personal commentaries on the concepts of Togetherness, Despair, Loneliness, Mistrust, Parting and Equilibrium. The series attracted the attention of a Spanish editor Chucherías de Arte. And as a result we printed a mini librino containing the images of this series.

Zine '12'
This is a collective riso printed publication made with the participation of twelve illustrators. Each artist had two colours available, a spread to work on and total freedom of which theme to explore.

'Rime' zine
This screenprinted zine is a collection of images that could have appeared on a frozen surface of a window.
